The oven cuts out

If your oven cuts out, it may be due to one of the following:
  • The fault may be due to a fuse in the circuit board. Start therefore by checking the fuses.
  • he fault may be due to a defective thermal fuse. If the thermal fuse is defective, it will typically turn off too early and you will therefore experience that the oven won’t heat up enough. The thermal fuse is placed on the outside of the oven – either at the top or at the back. You can use a multi meter to measure if there is full current as intended. The thermal fuse is a thermostat which purpose is to disconnect the power from the oven in the instance that the oven is overheating. The thermal fuse is often a bimetallic strip, which automatically sets in, once the oven has cooled back down. If the oven turns off and reconnects it may be because the bimetallic strip has become ”loose” and needs replacing. The thermal fuse can also be a melting fuse, which will need replacing in the case that it starts to burn. You can purchase a new thermal fuse here.
  • The fault may due to a defective cooling fan. You will typically be able to hear it when the cooling fan turns on, if you cannot, it may be a sign of a defective cooling fan. The fault can both be constant or it can occur when the oven – and thereby the cooling fan – gets warm. You can purchase a new cooling fan here.
  • The fault may be due to a defective oven thermostat, which is the switch for the degree settings. If the thermostat is defective, it will usually result in the oven getting too hot. This will result in the thermal fuse disconnecting. An oven thermostat works by turning off the heating elements, once the desired temperature has been reached. When the temperature falls to a certain level the heating element will be re-activated for a short while. The oven hereby turns on and off in intervals when the oven is in use and it is switched on. If the oven thermostat is defective, it may loose its ability to register the temperature and thereby the heating elements wont disconnect, but will instead continue to create heat until the thermal fuse switches off. You can purchase a new oven thermostat here.
